Maven: Large Language Models for Product Managers

This Maven course is taught by Polly Allen, founder of AI Career Boost and a product manager with 20-plus years in technology. Allen previously served as Principal PM on Amazon’s Alexa AI team, where she led the development and launch of the first AI-generated responses on Alexa. The course draws directly from that experience building consumer AI products at scale.

Who it is for

The program is designed specifically for software product managers with at least two years of industry experience. It explicitly excludes new or aspiring PMs. The framing assumes participants already know how to manage a product backlog, work with engineering teams, and make prioritization decisions — the goal is to add AI literacy on top of that foundation rather than teach product management from scratch.

What it covers

The curriculum moves through four areas. First, AI fundamentals tailored to a PM context — not a general explainer on how neural networks work, but a focused treatment of what LLMs can and cannot do in product settings and how their limitations affect product design decisions. Second, a framework for evaluating and scoping AI product ideas, which addresses the common problem of PMs over-estimating what an LLM integration can deliver. Third, practical prototype development using no-code tools, so participants leave with a working artifact rather than just theoretical understanding. Fourth, strategic frameworks for presenting AI proposals to stakeholders who may be skeptical or unfamiliar with the technology.

Format and price

The course runs as a single three-hour live session on Saturday mornings, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM PST. Sessions are recorded, so participants who cannot attend live can still access the material. The price is $299.

The three-hour format is a significant difference from multi-week cohort programs. It suits PMs who want focused, applicable content without a multi-week time commitment. It does not suit those looking for project-based work, peer cohort experience, or extended mentor access.

What to expect going in

Allen’s background in Alexa AI gives the course a voice AI and consumer product orientation. PMs building B2B SaaS, enterprise tooling, or developer products will find the fundamentals useful but may need to translate some examples. The course is probably most immediately applicable for those working on AI assistants, conversational interfaces, or recommendation systems.
