Maven: AI Product Management Certification by Product Faculty

The AI Product Management Certification by Product Faculty runs for six weeks on Maven. It is taught by Rohan Varma, a product leader at OpenAI who was the first PM at Cursor, and Henry Shi, a technical staff member at Anthropic Labs who co-founded Super.com, a company that reached over $200 million in annual recurring revenue. No prior experience with AI or coding is required.

The course is designed for product managers, engineers, tech leads, founders, and designers who want to build AI products from first principles rather than assemble surface-level familiarity with the technology.

What the course covers

The curriculum begins with how AI models actually work in production, not in theory. Students learn to identify genuine AI opportunities using the instructors’ “4D Method,” then move into prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic AI systems.

A dedicated section covers how to evaluate and select LLMs for specific use cases, including designing evaluation suites and running red teaming exercises to find failure modes before launch. Design patterns for building trustworthy AI experiences are treated separately, with attention to what makes AI-powered interfaces feel reliable to users rather than opaque.

The course also covers Chain of Thought prompting, fine-tuning strategies, and multi-agent system design. Students work with tools from the current AI stack: Claude Code, Lovable, n8n, and public APIs.

Who it is for

The course targets professionals who need to make real product decisions involving AI — not to gain a surface-level familiarity with the technology, but to understand it well enough to set direction, evaluate trade-offs, and work credibly alongside engineers. The mix of application and infrastructure content makes it relevant both at early-stage companies and at larger organizations where AI features are being added to existing products.

Capstone and certification

Each student ships a production-ready AI product as the capstone. Instructors provide feedback during the build, and participants receive a certification of completion at the end of the cohort. The next cohort runs from April 20 to May 29, 2026.

The course is priced at $2,500. The time commitment is four to six hours per week, split between live sessions, project work, and async content.
