Build Club: global community for people building AI products

Build Club is a global builder community founded by Annie Liao, organized around the idea that learning AI happens most effectively through shipping rather than studying. Members come from product, engineering, and design backgrounds, with product managers representing a significant portion of the active community — particularly those working on or transitioning into roles that involve AI-powered products.

The community operates through a combination of channels: a Slack workspace with dedicated tracks for product, engineering, and design; a digital campus (campus.buildclub.ai) for courses and certifications; and local chapters in cities including San Francisco, Singapore, Melbourne, London, and others. Local events are coordinated through Luma and serve as an in-person counterpart to the online activity.

The defining feature of Build Club’s culture is the demo requirement. Members are encouraged to post weekly Looms of what they shipped — a short video showing a working prototype, an experiment, or a tool they built that week. That pattern concentrates the community around people who are actively building rather than discussing building in the abstract.

For product managers, Build Club is most useful at two moments. The first is when making a professional transition toward AI product roles and wanting peer accountability and visible proof of work. The second is when already in an AI product role and looking for a community where it is normal to be building side projects and experimenting with new tools rather than a place to discuss theory. The community does not require prior technical background — the emphasis is on shipping something, at whatever technical level the member can manage.
