Writing qualitative interview protocols with AI — Maven course review
What the course is
A free lightning lesson on Maven by Ruby Pryor, a design and customer experience professional with a decade of experience at Boston Consulting Group, Grab, and Nous Group. Pryor has spoken at 10 UX conferences across 7 countries. The session focuses specifically on using AI to write better discussion guides for qualitative research sessions.
Who it’s for
Researchers at any level who write discussion guides and want to improve both their speed and quality using AI. Particularly useful for those new to concept testing methodology or researchers who want to develop reusable prompts for recurring research types.
What it covers
The lesson starts with principles of a strong discussion guide: what makes questions effective, how to structure a research session, and how research objectives should connect to interview questions. It then shows how to translate those principles into AI prompts, using a case study to demonstrate prompt construction. A live demo generates a full discussion guide with AI, followed by critical review techniques for evaluating the output, both manually and with AI-assisted critique.
Limitations
As a lightning lesson, the depth is limited compared to a full course. The content focuses specifically on discussion guides and does not cover other aspects of research planning or analysis.
