Figma: AI beta features now available to all paid users
What happened
Figma expanded access to its AI beta features from early access to all Pro, Organization, and Enterprise users. The features include Rename Layers, Boost Resolution, Replace Content, Edit Image (a new feature using OpenAI’s gpt-image-1 model), and Make Design, Figma’s AI design generation tool.
Context
Previously limited to select users, these AI features are now standard for all paying Figma customers. The Edit Image feature, newly announced alongside this expansion, allows direct image editing within Figma using AI — adjusting, extending, or modifying images without leaving the canvas.
Why it matters for designers
The broad rollout means AI features are no longer experimental add-ons in Figma but standard capabilities available to every paying team. For design teams that have been waiting for stability before adopting these features, the move to general availability signals Figma’s confidence in their readiness for production use. The addition of AI image editing (via OpenAI’s model) directly in the Figma canvas reduces context-switching for designers who previously needed separate tools for image manipulation.
