The Information: Anthropic prepares a website and presentation design tool

On April 14, 2026, The Information reported that Anthropic was preparing to release a new AI tool capable of generating websites, landing pages, and presentations from plain-language prompts. The launch was expected to follow within days. The same report mentioned a new flagship model, Claude Opus 4.7.

The design tool marks Anthropic’s first move into visual creation products. Until now, the company’s consumer and developer surfaces were chat-based: claude.ai and the API for Claude Code. The new tool reportedly handles both content and layout generation, targeting non-technical users who want to produce polished visual output without writing code or learning a design tool.

The announcement shifted attention toward competitive dynamics in the AI design space. Shares of Adobe, Wix, GoDaddy, and Figma dropped after the news broke, reflecting concern that Anthropic’s entry would intensify a market that already included Google Stitch, Figma Make, and Lovable. Gamma, the AI-first presentation tool with several million active users, is cited as a direct competitor in the presentations segment.

Anthropic has an existing relationship with Figma through its MCP server integration, which converts Claude Code output into editable Figma files. The new tool appears to go further, producing finished visual work rather than serving as a bridge between code and design.

For product designers and teams that track the design tools market, this announcement is significant in two ways. First, it signals that AI companies are increasingly building end-user creative tools rather than limiting themselves to developer APIs. Second, it applies pressure to tools that have built moats around template libraries and collaborative editing — areas where a language-model-first competitor could arrive with different default assumptions about how design starts.

The tool had not officially launched as of the time of this report.
