Figma: Admin controls for per-user AI credit limits

Organization and team admins can now set a custom monthly credit limit for individual team members — from full access, to a specific number, to no access at all. When a user hits their assigned limit, they can submit a request to their admin for an increase instead of simply being cut off.

This builds on the broader credit enforcement Figma introduced in March 2026, when per-seat limits began applying to all plans. That earlier change set a monthly ceiling by seat type. The August update adds a layer of granularity: admins can now differentiate between team members based on actual usage patterns rather than seat category alone.

The practical implication for design teams is more controlled AI spending without a blanket restriction. A team lead or design system owner who runs heavy AI generation tasks can receive a higher allocation than someone who uses AI features occasionally. The request-and-approve flow means members are not blocked indefinitely — they can escalate when a project requires more.
