Adobe: Firefly AI Assistant and new Creative Agent launched at Summit 2026

At Adobe Summit 2026 in Las Vegas (April 19–22), Adobe announced the Firefly AI Assistant and a broader Creative Agent architecture that lets designers describe an outcome in natural language and have the AI orchestrate multi-step workflows across multiple Creative Cloud apps without manual handoffs between tools.

The Creative Agent works across Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Express, Illustrator, and the Firefly platform. A user can describe what they want — say, remove a background, adjust the perspective of an object, and match the lighting to the surrounding scene — and the agent executes each step in sequence, using the right tool for each task. The agent retains context across steps so the output of one step informs the next, rather than requiring the designer to re-specify context at each tool transition.

Two new Photoshop features shipped alongside the announcement. Rotate Object converts a 2D image into a repositionable 3D model, letting designers match the perspective and depth of a composited element to a background plate without manual distortion. Harmonize analyses the scene surrounding a composited layer and adjusts the layer’s lighting, shadows, and color cast to match, generating three variations for the designer to choose between. Both features target compositing tasks that previously required significant manual correction.

The agent learns user preferences over time — tool choices, aesthetic tendencies, preferred workflows — and incorporates them into future suggestions. Frame.io integration extends the system to review and delivery: the agent can package materials, share them with collaborators, collect feedback, and apply requested changes.

The Firefly AI Assistant is coming to public beta in the coming weeks. For designers working across the Adobe ecosystem, this marks a shift from switching between apps manually to directing outcomes through a single conversational interface.
